Limo Scavenger Hunt - birthday or team building fun for kids & adults alike!

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Want a cool - different idea for your next birthday or team building event?  A limo scavenger hunt is a super fun way to get everybody together doing something fun and challenging!

Book one or two limos - depending on if you want to make this a team against team scavenger hunt or just a timed scavenger hunt.  What is great about limos is you can have 8-28 people all together - in a stretch Chrysler limo, Hummer limo or party bus

Have at least one digital camera per team and see who can find the most of the following items:

Take Photos of the Following:

___ Someone walking their dog.

___ A team member pumping a stranger's gas.

___ A bank deposit envelope.

___ A stranger serenading your team with an instrument.

___ Someone with more than four children (younger than 18 year old children).

___ The smallest house you can find.

___ A photo of an out-of-state license plate.

___ A disposable coffee cup with a business logo signed by an employee.

___ Graffiti in a local business' washroom.

___ A free promotional pen (must have company's info on it).

___ Someone 85 years old or older (holding their id).

___ Team sharing one soda (every needs their own straw).

___ Team receiving dessert complete with lighted birthday candle.

___ How much is a pina colado at the local bar?

___ The business card of a cosmetics salesperson.

___ A pizza coupon.

___ A cocktail umbrella.

More Kids Scavenger Hunt ideas (add or subtract from the ideas above):

___ How many swings at your local park.

___ Find something round like a ball (or a rock) to bring back.

___ Take a picture of a member of your team on another person's bike.

___ Take picture of a lawn ornament.

___ Find a slide that your entire team can fit on a take a picture.

It will be a blast to have a timed race in a limo for all these items - or to have teams competing against each other for this scavenger hunt!

What do you think about making the drinking age 18+?

July 17, 2009 marked the 25th anniversary of the National Minimum Drinking Age Act to the age of 21.  It's obviously not working. How many of you out there waited until you were 21 to take your first drink?  You can go to war, vote, drive a car - but you cannot drink.  Many, many feel that that this law is not work.  That if the age requirement was lowered that this would give people a chance to get educated - just like driver's education - drinking education.

Choose Responsibly is putting the issue out there and pushing for a change in the laws - here are some arguements from their website:

What are the arguments for the 21 year-old drinking age?

  1. It saves lives by preventing alcohol-related traffic fatalities for 18-20 year olds and the rest of the population
  2. Since the developing adolescent brain is affected differently by alcohol than the adult brain, the 21 year-old drinking age protects adolescents and young adults from the its potentially negative consequences
  3. The earlier one starts to drink, the more likely he or she will experience alcohol dependence and related problems later in life.

What are the arguments against the 21 year-old drinking age?

  1. Any benefits of the 21 year-old drinking age have come to be more than offset by unintended and largely negative consequences.
  2. The 21 year-old drinking age is an abridgement of the age of majority.
  3. The 21 year-old drinking age marginalizes the role of parents in the process of teaching and encouraging responsible decisions about alcohol use.
  4. Under the 21 year-old drinking age, fewer young people are drinking, but those who do choose to are drinking more. This alarming rise in the rates of binge drinking on campuses and in communities around the nation has caused a major, national public health problem.
  5. The 21 year-old drinking age breeds disrespect for law and ethical compromises.

What do you think?  Do you feel that law should be changed or left the same?

Geisha A Go Go - get your karaoke on!

Love karaoke, a cool and hip Asian vibe and a huge seleGeisha A Go Goction of Sushi, Yakisoba, Ramen and a full Teppenyaki menu?  Don't forget this drinks with the coolest selection this side of the Western hemisphere like the Hot Honey Bunny Stomper, the Go Speed Racer and the Yashi Yashi, all $8 each.   Then you will love Geisha A Go Go!

This Old Town Scottsdale restaurant/lounge with giant black and white photos of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Sid Vicious backing the bar is a cool destination! The venue's thumping music is just as good as its taste in rock art.  A 4 1/2-foot-tall chunk of granite gives the main room good feng shui, and the rest of the decor is rounded out by a preserved bonsai tree and Pachinko Japanese pinball machines.

The waitstaff is beautiful and the crowd is full of pretty 20-45 year old hipsters.  You would never think that the bathroom is a main event - but the Japanese-made Toto toilets cost several thousand dollars each and have heated seats and remote controls and cause quite of stir with newbies going to the toliet!

Karaoke rules at Geisha a Go Go with several private karaoke rooms, each with a 40-inch flat-screen TV, double-insulated walls, low couches, a petite coffee table and its own waitress, who comes when you press a button!  Couple this experience with our limo party bus with karaoke on-board and you have a recipe for a singing night!

Laid back Mexico-style club - San Felipes Cantina

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

You can't get any better than that south-of-the-border vibe without the airplane flight, going through customs (did I mention the swine flu and the scary drug cartels that are especially on the border towns like Rocky Point).  Yep I will take my Mexico - Rocky Point-style beach shack right here in the good-old USA - right at San Felipes Cantina!

With two locations now - one at Tempe Marketplace and one at Desert Ridge - San Felipes Cantina is the laid-back party spot!  With 110 tequilas, a 36-ounce fishbowl margarita (to share) and a late-night menu that involves the word munchies. It's like being on college spring break in Mexico, only you don't need a passport. The bar hosts bar-top dancing contests. It's that type of place.

Dinner is served until 10 p.m., when the tables start getting used as dance platforms. Day drinking is encouraged at the Baja Happy Hour from 4 to 7 p.m., with $2 Mexican beers, $3 house margaritas and half-off appetizers every day.

There is never a cover charge and each night has a different theme like Industry Night Mondays with $3 well and draft drinks, 2-Fer Tuesday 2-4-1 Mexican Draft Beers from 10pm to close, $3 drafts and live music at the Tempe location on Wednesday, THERsty THERsdays ladies night with great-cheap specials, and Fri/Sat/Sun this place becomes a rockin dance club (well dancing on the bar) after 10pm!

San Felipes is a great - casual - fun place especially popular with the under 30 crowd wearing flip flops and t-shirts!  Don't forget to book a safe sedan fSan Felipe clubor your ride home after drinking all night!

Arizona Party Bus-Cheapest way to avoid a DUI-$16.07/person!

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

A 2007 survey done by the National Highway Administration shows some promising news on DUIs - fewer Americans are driving drunk but the scary part is that roughly one in six people on the road on weekend nights is drunk!  We've heard from Scottsdale police that they put that number at closer to one in three drivers on the roads in old town Scottsdale are driving drunk!  1 in 3 drivers drunk - wow!

In a survey conducted in 2007, 2.2 percent of drivers had a blood-alcohol content of 0.8 percent or higher, which would exceed the limit for driving while intoxicated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, the agency said in a news release.

The first such survey, conducted in 1973, found 7.5 percent of drivers above the 0.8 limit, the release said. Other surveys were conducted in 1986 and 1996.  The report goes on to talk about that use the drug use while driving is on the increase, however.  Which is troubling.

To me I don't really understand why people do it - drive drunk.  When I was drinking I would always get a cab, car service or a limo or Arizona party bus.  That is probably why I wanted to start a limo business.  To use the vehicles on their "down time" as much money as I was spending on cabs.

What do you think?  Why do people drive drunk still?  Are you encouraged that the rate of drunk driving is dropping?  Do you think more people are aware now?

Just a short drive away from Phoenix are some of the finest clubs in the nation - in Sin City - Vegas baby!  These are some of the best, most luxurious, awesome and opulent and, most important, filled-with-beautiful-people-clubs you will find!

1.  PURE Caesars Palace - posh nightclub that is a celebrity magnet with it's this two-story, 36,000-square-foot venue with three rooms. The main room has three bars, a dance floor and beds on which to lounge. The secluded Red Room hosts VIPs and is decorated with cozy booths, chandeliers and flowing drapery. A staircase and glass elevator lead guests to the Terrace, offering private cabanas, dance floor and sweeping Strip views.

2.  Body English at Hard Rock - only the most fashionable get to pass into these doors without VIP service.  41 tables upstairs and down with a bar dressed in lavish leathers, rich dark woods and a vintage $250,000 Baccarat chandelier above a massive dance floor.  Gorgeous waitresses in their best lingerie, celebrity DJs, beautiful people, and tales of rock and roll decadence have earned Body English a well-deserved reputation for hosting Las Vegas' best parties and events.  Open Wed, Fri-Sun.

3.  Light at Bellagio - Light is by far Vegas' hottest, most posh and most exclusive nightclub. It's upscale and elegant interior offer a large dance floor and a lot of room to mingle. If you're a guy, don't expect to get into the club quickly unless your on the list. Dress to impress because Light has been known to turn away some true A-listers for not having proper attire. Open Thurs-Sun.

4.  Studio 54 at MGM Grand - This 22,000 square-foot, high-energy club features dancers twirling on trapeze swings above the bouncing dance floor and confetti raining down on the dance floor.   A modern interpretation of the original Studio 54, featuring state-of-the-art sound, video and lighting, live dancers and chart-topping dance music.  Open Tues - Sat.

5.  Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay - the most exclusive venue in Las Vegas. Boasting an $8 million dollar build out it has been the most sought after room since its inception.  The Foundation Room is a members-only venue with a $2000 annual fee to be allowed to get on the elevator taking you 43 floors up. Designed with authentic hand crafted artifacts imported from India and Tibet it plays host to the most lavish of parties.

6.  Rain at Palms - Expect long lines of starry-eyed, friendly tourists.  A dance floor surrounded by a water mote, go-go dancers on swings and the occasional fire blast make this a hot destination! The club is a deceptively large at 25,000 square feet, but the main room's relatively small, elevated dance floor steals the show. Loud pulsating beats of house, hip-hop and Top-40 mixes and plenty of VIP tables and skyboxes make the night complete.  Open Fri-Sat.

Of course you need a way to get to Vegas - so hop on one of our awesome party buses!  We lowered our prices for our Vegas Trips!

Do you agree with the hottest club count-down?  Do you have any experiences - good or bad with these clubs?  Let us know!!

Tucson Limo Service from In The Scene Limousine

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

We are excited to begin offering limo and party bus service for the Tucson area - along with other areas outside of Metro Phoenix!  This includes areas of service like Tucson, Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona, etc.

Instead of charging high hourly prices from the time we leave our office in Tempe, AZ to the time we return (often called garage-to-garage charges) - we are only setting our minimum hours a bit higher than in-town runs.  So for example in the Phoenix area we normally have a 3 hour minimum during the day and 4-6 hour minimum on Friday and Saturday nights.  In Tucson, Prescott, Flagstaff, etc. we will have at least a 5 hour minimum.  And we've increased our hourly rates just a bit over what we charge in Phoenix.

We think this will help increase the options for clients and prospective clients that live in those areas outside of Phoenix.  We know that party buses and Hummer limos are pretty scarce in smaller towns like Prescott and hope that more people in those areas will take advantage of our lower pricing!

Tucson Limo Service is now just a phone call away to 520-300-8525!  Hummer limos starting at only $115 per hour - not bad!

California limo sedan - instead of state vehicle Mr. Prison Official!

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

You might think that a government official would be more aware of the laws in their state.  Especially a government official that works in the prison system, as a high-ranking state corrections officer.  Mr. Scott Kernan was arrested on June 7th in a state vehicle near his home in Rancho Murieta.  Although authorities would not reveal his exact blood alcohol level, they said it exceeded the legal limit of 0.08.

Kernan gets to witness daily the life of inmates in the State of California's prison system which is the second-biggest in the United States, after the federal prison system (and has the country's worst overcrowding problem. Some prisons are at more than 200 percent of their planned capacity).

You might think he would pay attention to the fact that many, many of the inmates incarcerated are there because of the actions they took while under the influence of drugs an alcohol - from robbery, to murder to rape.  And some of those inmates are in this overcrowded prison system because of DUI.

Yet this high-ranking corrections officer still chose to get behind the wheel of his state vehicle and drive after drinking.  At least he is pleading guilty and apologetic for his actions.  But of course, what choice does he have?  Maybe he should have booked a California limo or Orange County sedan instead of driving his state vehicle!

AZ Limo-solution to the cold sweats/racing heart going thru that DUI checkpoint!

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

My heart started racing as I saw the row of tail lights up ahead of me.  Palms started sweating and butterflies started dancing around in my stomach.  And I know I'm not intoxicated.  Actually I haven't touched a drop of alcohol in two years!

But still I GOT NERVOUS passing through that DUI checkpoint!!  I breathed a deep sigh of relief to be through it.  It was my first DUI checkpoint that I've ever gone through (thank God it never happened when I was an active drinker - but that is a whole other story).

Police officers scare me - I don't want to go to jail - or even really talk to them.  I'm sure they are great people - and as long as you aren't doing anything wrong - nothing will happen.  But it's kinda like bees - they scare me.  I don't want to be around them - I'm afraid I will be stung.

The City of Mesa handed me a Sobriety Checkpoint brochure.  On it were interesting facts - of course a lot of the same DUI info I blog about as far as consequences and fines.  But the info I liked was some more suggestions to how you can make the roads safer when someone you know is trying to get behind the wheel and drive after drinking:

  • Offer to drive your friend home (if you haven't been drinking of course)!
  • Suggest that they stay the night - it may be inconvenient but it's saving lives!
  • Take their car keys away - take control of the situation!
  • Call a taxi or sedan service and pay for it yourself - your friend will probably reimburse you tomorrow once they've sobered up.
  • When all else fails - call the police to prevent your friend's driving.  It may sound extreme - but that is how important it is to prevent somebody from getting behind the wheel - you could be saving many lives!

Of course my suggestion always it (probably because I'm part owner of a limo company) - you could always have a lot more fun if you just ordered an AZ Limo or party bus service and then you-all wouldn't have to worry about drinking and driving!!
